What is CSULB Anime Club all about?
We are a special interest club at California State University of Long Beach where people can join and meet others under the common interest of Japanese Animation. This is a social club and also we promote the understanding of the cultural medium to Japanese Animation.

Are there any fees or payment required to join the club?
The club is free to join whenever you feel like it. Anime can an expensive hobby. We feel that the money is better spent on food and merchandise rather than some sort of proof that says you belong to this club.

Do I have to be a student to join?
No. Anyone is free to join the club. We do not have a rigid club membership system. We’re just a bunch of people hanging out under one common interest: ANIME!

Where can I get a copy of the club’s constitution?
The constitution/charter regarding to this club as well as other fine clubs in CSULB are located at the Student Life & Developement Office on the second floor of the Student Union in CSULB.

ANIME CLUB AS A SPECIAL INTEREST ORGANIZATION AT CSULB

Is Anime Club a type of art club?
Yes and no. It is more of a social gathering club though we do indeed have artists among our members. However, We also have a sub-group called the Art Circle, which is geared towards those take interest into the art aspect the club.

Is the club affiliated with any anime companies like Geneon and Bandai?
Currently we are being sponsored by Desu Nation who also sponsors California State University, Fullerton. The officers are currently trying to dicuss further action regarding this sponsorship topic.

How does the club fund most of the events and necessary equipment?
We, first, are college students who use our own personal funds. We do ask for donations, but only during emergency situations such as the instance of when the projector we use to show anime to the club, ceased to function. The only time you would need to put in your money is to pay for your benefit.

How does one become a club officer?
If needed, near the end of the semester, the board members will ask if anyone wishes to fill out a simple application for being an anime club officer.  Once the all application(s) are submitted, a date for the interview with the officers will be announced.  We do not do member voting since we believe the club should not be run by being chosen through some sort of popularity contest.

Yes, we actually attend conventions every year.  Not everyone is mandatory to show up to these conventions but it does make things a lot more interesting.  If you happen to show up and want to meet with people, it will be up to you to set up when to meet with the friends you’ve made at this club. We usually do not make it a formal meet up.

What conventions has the club attended?
We normally attend: Anime Expo (Southern California), Anime Los Angeles, and Fanime (San Jose).

Where are the meetings located?
Generally, the meetings are located either in our usual room USU 205 (Huntington Beach Room), the 1st Floor Student Union’s Press Room, or a room that will be announced to the club should a notice be needed to be sent out tot the members. Check your e-mails to be sure!

Do you guys have a map upon how to get to your meetings?
TADA!!!

Where is the recommended area to park for club meetings?
Look at the map above and follow the orange line that leads to the parking area. Please note that if you do not have a school parking permit, you must obtain one or else face a $35 parking ticket. A little warning: it’s best to find a parking spot between 6:00pm to 6:45pm. That parking area tends to get full in such a short amount of time since it becomes General Parking after 6:00PM.

Where can I park if I’m not a student of CSULB?
You can park the same place as everyone else. You are still required to pay for the daily parking, which costs $5.00 at the moment. It may seem pricey just to park for a couple hours, but it’s up to you to make what you spent worth while by being a part of the socializing atmosphere. The parking permits are located at the green dots in the map above.
